· About this route
Ulm sits 80 kilometres east of Stuttgart Airport, and the drive is one of the simplest in our network: A8 west in one straight run, 60–75 minutes in normal conditions. You never touch the city of Stuttgart at all — the airport lies directly on the motorway at the Flughafen/Messe exit, so the last minutes are a slip road rather than urban traffic. The one variable worth knowing about is the Albaufstieg, the climb over the Swabian Alb between Ulm and Kirchheim, where lorry traffic and lane closures can eat the difference between the two ends of that time range.
The corridor exists because Ulm runs two economies that both bring people in from abroad. The Oberer Eselsberg holds the university, the Universitätsklinikum and the Science Park, so a large share of our passengers are visiting researchers, clinicians and external examiners. The rest are engineers and buyers working with the commercial-vehicle and industrial employers around the city, plus travellers who came for the Münster — the cathedral with the tallest church spire in the world — and fly home out of Stuttgart. Pickups in Neu-Ulm, across the Danube in Bavaria, work exactly the same way.
Because the distance is real, the honest advice is to leave earlier than you would from a Stuttgart suburb. For a 06:00 departure, book the pickup for 02:45: 75 minutes of road, the 90 minutes the airport asks for at check-in and security, and half an hour of slack for the Alb. The fixed price is agreed when you book and does not move afterwards — 366,90 € Standard, 437,90 € Van, 512,90 € Premium S-Class, each including 19 % VAT. The price follows the address you enter, not the city centre.

Standard 366,90 €, Van 437,90 €, Premium S-Class 512,90 €. That is the whole amount: 19 % VAT is already inside it, and there is no night tariff, no airport-access fee, no card fee and no motorway toll on this route. German rules put passenger transport at 7 % up to 50 kilometres or within one municipality; at 80 km this corridor falls into the 19 % band, which is why the rate differs from short city trips.
Work backwards from the flight rather than from the map. Allow 75 minutes for the drive, 90 minutes at the airport and about half an hour of slack for the Alb section — roughly three and a quarter hours before departure. For a 06:00 flight that means a pickup around 02:45, which our dispatch covers at the normal fixed price. If you are booking the return leg now, set that pickup about 45 minutes after the scheduled landing; we do not track flights live.
A8 west, one continuous run, no changes of road. The section that matters is the Albaufstieg, the climb over the Swabian Alb around Aichelberg and Mühlhausen im Täle: heavy lorry traffic, frequent roadworks, and the place where a 60-minute drive turns into a 75-minute one. If it is genuinely standing, the driver drops down to the B10 through the Filstal via Geislingen and Göppingen. Either way you pay what you booked.
At the Departures kerb on Level 3, directly in front of the terminal building. The motorway exit feeds straight onto the airport ramp, so the final approach is a couple of minutes rather than a run through town. All four terminals stand side by side under one connected roof, so a single drop point serves them all — your check-in desk number tells you which one to walk into, the first digit being the terminal number, and your cases are lifted out onto the pavement for you.
Standard takes up to 4 passengers with 3 suitcases. Premium S-Class carries the same 4 passengers and 3 suitcases in a larger, quieter cabin. The Van takes 8 passengers with 8 suitcases. Child seats count as passengers, because a seat is a seat — request them in the booking notes. If you are travelling with a fourth large case, skis or a bicycle box, take the Van; on an 80 km run there is no comfortable way to improvise.
Yes. The clinic and university campus on the Oberer Eselsberg is routine for us — visitor bay at the main entrance, address entered exactly as your host gave it. For a works gate, ask your host to register your name and put the gate in the booking notes, so the driver waits there instead of circling the perimeter. Company travel runs through /geschaeftskunden/firmen: cost-centre coding, monthly ZUGFeRD invoice, SEPA net-14. Same fixed price either way.
The pickup can be shifted by up to 60 minutes free — call or message our dispatch, on the day if it comes to that; beyond that we re-plan where the schedule allows. The link in your confirmation email opens the booking and cancels it, but does not reschedule. Cancellation is free until 24 hours before pickup, refunded in full to the card you paid with. Between 6 and 24 hours we refund half. Under 6 hours, or a no-show, there is no refund.
